Have your say on the river coarse fishing close season

posted on 6 March 2019 | posted in Articles / News

Have you had your say on the river coarse fishing close season yet? Consultation closes on March 11th so make sure you don’t miss out.

FDF

Earlier this year, the Environment Agency began consulting on the future of the statutory river coarse fishing close season in England which currently runs from 15 March to 15 June.

This is an opportunity for anglers, clubs, fisheries, tackle shops and anyone with an interest in fish and fishing to give their views on what should happen to the river close season in future years. The Angling Trust has participated in the Review Group which has examined a large body of evidence for and against the various options.

The Environment Agency has decided to consult on three options:

1. To retain the current close season

2. To remove the close season

3. To retain a close season but change the start and end dates to 15 April and 30 June.

The consultation runs until March 11th - don't miss out on the opportunity to give your views.
